On the bench
We drove this one up a painted stairwell for most of an afternoon and the only thing that stopped it was a dusty patch near the skirting board. Wipe the wall, and it climbs again. Textured wallpaper is the one surface we would not promise you.
Kids take about a minute to work out the remote control, and then the experimenting starts: how steep a wall, how dusty, how far from the doorway you can stand. The movement is slow and deliberate rather than quick, which is exactly what makes this toy read as something alive on paint instead of a set of wheels.
The rechargeable pack charges over USB while the gecko sits nose-down on a desk, and friends who have only seen wheeled bots ask how this one can move straight up paint. It can, as long as the paint is smooth, dry and clean.
It sits on the wall crawlers shelf, in among the rest of the HEX BOTS robotic toys, so it went through the same yardstick as every other bot there before it got a card here.

Who plays with it, and what stands next to it
Customers who pick this one up usually have a hallway in mind. The fun is in the first climb, the design is plain enough that a four-year-old can turn it around without help, and the crawling movement makes the same prank work twice in one evening. As a gift it is a safe bet: it looks cool parked on a shelf, and the play is close to endless while the cell holds.
Its twin on the same HEX BOTS shelf is the glow-in-the-dark crawler — identical climbing hardware under a shell that holds light. For a dark hallway rather than a lit one, start there.
Getting it, swapping it
Delivery, tracking, swaps and warranty claims are handled on the order page of the store you bought from — they hold the order, we hold the bench. Read how we split that in Doorstep & swaps.
The instructions in the box run to one sheet; our charge and care guide covers cells, run life and storage between runs. Surfaces and charging questions come to bench@hexbots.pages.dev, Mon to Fri, 9am to 6pm ET.
