On the bench
The ball trick is the whole product. Set it down in the middle of a floor, wait for somebody to ask what it is, and open it. We have not found a faster way to clear a sofa.
Kids get two toys out of one design here: a ball that rolls into a room, and a glowing centipede that slithers out of it. Autonomous mode is where the experimenting happens — give it open floor and the movement is genuinely hard to call. A USB-C cable charges the rechargeable pack.
Remote control sits on one small handset: forward, reverse and both turns. Hand it to friends, let them move the ball into position, then take it back and open the thing. The lights along the segments stay cool to the touch, and the charge is long rather than endless.
It sits on the robotic creatures shelf, in among the rest of the HEX BOTS robotic toys, so it went through the same yardstick as every other bot there before it got a card here.
Numbers our mechanic logged
Sizes, cells and surfaces below are what came off the bench; the ages are the maker’s call, not ours.

- PowerUSB charge, AAA in the remote
- FloorHard floors; autonomous mode needs open space
- Ages4 and up

Who plays with it, and what stands next to it
Customers describe the same moment: a ball on the floor, a question, and then a centipede. The play splits in two — driving it on the remote, or letting the autonomous movement write its own route, which is where the experimenting goes. The design is the coolest thing on our shelf right now, the prank is built in, and as a gift it needs no explaining.
It is the newest of the robotic creatures and the only one that changes shape. If climbing is what you came for, the gecko crawlers crawl up smooth walls, including a glow-in-the-dark one.
Getting it, swapping it
Delivery, tracking, swaps and warranty claims are handled on the order page of the store you bought from — they hold the order, we hold the bench. Read how we split that in Doorstep & swaps.
The instructions in the box run to one sheet; our charge and care guide covers cells, run life and storage between runs. Surfaces and charging questions come to bench@hexbots.pages.dev, Mon to Fri, 9am to 6pm ET.
